Doubts about having a Motherhood session at home

Are you considering a Motherhood session but unsure about having it at home? Maybe you feel your home isn’t ‘picture-worthy’ or it’s not tidy enough? Well, I want to share a peek into a Motherhood session with Abi and her girls.

Before the shoot Abi wasn’t sure where we could take the photos in her house and felt slightly apprehensive. But I asked her to look for 2 of the brightest areas in her home and that’s where we stayed for most of the shoot. We pulled away her dining room table, and used a blank wall - stripping away any distractions from her and her girls. The light poured in from the patio doors and just by rearranging some furniture, we created space to allow the shoot to unfold.

Light is my main priority during a session at home. Not what your house looks like or whether you think it’s tidy enough! When you book a session with me, I offer lots of tips to help you prepare for in-home sessions - so please don’t worry!

Abi wanted me to document some time with her two girls, and also to get some images of her before her third baby was born (he came a week later!). I say it over and over, but I LOVE these sessions. Being at home with your children is hard. Like, haaaaard, hard. The hours that it’s just you and them, without any interaction with another adult, can sometimes feel isolating. The hours spent changing nappies, feeding, clearing up cheerios and raisins as they leave trails behind them, can feel never-ending. But then there are the gold moments, the priceless moments, the enriching, and don’t-want-them-to-end moments. These sessions celebrate exactly that. The cuddles, the laughs, the simplicity of it all. Here are some images of Abi, her girls and her gorgeous baby bump - celebrating the strength of this Mama in one of life’s toughest but most rewarding seasons…
