How can we show up in our business even when it's hard?

You know that you need to be visible in your business, but doubts, fears and challenges hold you back. Showing up in your business is powerful and it can lead to so many exciting opportunities. It connects you to your audience and deepens connections, leading to customer loyalty and trust. But what do we do when overwhelm or insecurities are holding us back? Perhaps you’ve had a break from work or recovering from an illness. Maybe you’ve been on maternity leave and you’re ready to pick up where you left off, but you’re not sure where to start.

Here are a few ideas, to inspire you and help you to become more visible in your business - even when it’s tough or you face challenges:

Speak to another business owner who you know and trust. Talk through what's holding you back - those outside of our businesses can offer really sound advice and keep us accountable.

Take a moment to remember that people don't care as much as we think they do. We might be worried of how friends/family/peers will judge us, and that fear can hold us back. But often, they see you and move onto the next thing going on in their own lives. Come back to your why - you're showing up because you want to be visible in your business, not to show off - so lose the fear of being judged by those you know!

Book a brand shoot - I've just booked in a new brand shoot for myself. A time to get some fresh imagery and batch create some new content. I feel so much more inspired when I have a bank of new imagery - it's a game changer in terms of reducing time spent over-thinking and worrying about what to post!

Remember your Content Pillars - simply put, your content pillars are a way to structure all that you share with your audience. Having a different content pillar for each day of the week you share on social media, brings consistency and variety to your posts. Content Pillars can consist of something educational, client feedback, your offerings, something personal, your brand values… you get to decide. Come back to these (or decide on what they are) and create content based around them.

Share a story about you or your team. Introduce yourselves and highlight what each team member does and what they love. This can be done through your IG stories, in a reel or a carousel post.

Share a ‘Day in the life’ through a reel - we all love to see behind the scenes and what it's truly like within the day to day of your business. If you don't like talking to the camera, you can opt to record a voiceover.

Send a newsletter or write a blog post. Longer form content that gives you space to open up to your audience or share what's happening/coming up in your business.

I hope some of these ideas help you to take a step forward if you're feeling stuck. Simple ideas that hopefully prompt you to show up online and connect more with your audience.
