FAQ - Personal Branding Photography
You’re thinking about a Personal Branding shoot, now what? In order to make the most out of your shoot and get exactly what you need, PREPARATION IS KEY!
Here are some FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS about having a Personal Branding shoot:
What is a Personal Branding shoot?
Personal branding photography tells the story of what you do and why you do it. This is done through detail/lifestyle shots, photos of you in action with your products and within your working environment - all so you can attract your dream customers on a deeper level.
Personal Branding photography is more than just 'headshots'. It helps to communicate who you are, shows your personality and tells your brand story. Clients feel they can connect with you and your brand ethos.
Most brands invest in photographing their product or talking about their services - of course this is essential. But what sets you apart in a saturated market? What makes someone buy from YOU over another business selling the same thing or offering the same service? The answer is YOU. You are your biggest asset.
I don’t know what to wear, do you offer help?
Yes, absolutely! When you book in for a shoot with me, I’ll take you through a branding questionnaire. Once I’ve found out more about you, I can offer lots of advice and direction. I also work alongside a fashion stylist (who specialises in working with brands), so you’re welcome to jump on a complimentary discovery call with her to find out more.
What’s involved? What do I need to know?
After booking a Personal Branding shoot with me, I’ll get you to complete a client questionnaire. This digs deep into your brand and is the perfect way for me to get to know you more. I then ask you to set up a mood board and to really consider how you want your brand aesthetics to ‘feel’. We buy with our emotions, so when customers are coming into contact with your brand, they need to ‘feel’ something in order to start investing in you. Once we’ve worked through a mood board, it’s time to think about location, outfits and props and pull together the all important shot list. This will cover everything I need to know - what images you need, where you want me to take them and where you’ll be using them. Knowing where you’ll use the images is so important - I need to know which orientation to take them in and also, if there needs to be room for a crop or negative space. It’s all in the details!
How long will the images take until they’re ready?
Images are ready 14 days after your shoot (sometimes sooner), so if you have a tighter deadline it’s worth mentioning to me first.
I don’t have a pretty location for my shoot, can you help?
Along with having a plan in place, the location of your shoot is one of the most important aspects to consider. It can have such a HUGE impact on the final images. A lot of people don’t have a beautiful space readily available - I understand that. For a lot of people, juggling their careers with raising a family is reality, so this can often mean you’re working from your kitchen table. I can help you to find the right location that’s fit for your brand; staying true and authentic to who you are. You just need to allow extra budget for this!
I don’t know what I need in terms of photos for my brand, can you offer some guidance?
Yes, I’m more than happy to help you. If you need some help pulling together your ideas, use these 5 categories to help add some structure to your mood board and your final shot list:
1. Lifestyle shots of your offering in use
2. A peek into your workspace
3. Where you find inspiration
4. Tools of your trade
5. Photos of you
What do I need to bring?
You’ve completed your mood board and have your shot list finalised. Unless you’re shoot is taking place at a fully styled venue (with a prop stylist on hand), you need to think about props! Props help to build out the story, so think carefully about what you’ll need (making sure everything works aesthetically for your brand). I also have prop stylists available to help if you need an extra hand with this!
